Self-Reflection – I can overcome any challenge on my journey to victory.
November 19, 2009
On my journey to victory, I can overcome any challenge that is set before me like a mountain standing in my way. Armed with courage I push myself to climb as far as it takes to get to the other side. I press on because victory awaits me at the top, but only if I persevere.
Determination is what makes me an invincible force throughout the journey. Regardless of what I see around me, above me, or even below me, I am determined to finish what I have started because it is my promise to myself.
I put on the gloves of persistence in order to firmly grip the side of the mountain so I can stay the course. One step at a time, I press on in my walk no matter what tries to get in my way. Even when inclement weather slows my pace, I continue to press on. Life is not about how fast I travel, but about enjoying the journey to my destiny.
I am strong and courageous enough to confront challenges head on. My passion drives me forward in spite of challenges. I am confident that my abilities are greater than whatever trials I my face. I know that I can overcome challenges with grace and poise when I walk with self-assurance.
Today, I choose not to simply face challenges, but to embrace them as opportunities to soar. I am climbing higher than ever before, certain that I will reach the top where I will give a shout of victory.
Self-Reflection Questions:
- What is the force that drives me?
- How can challenges make me stronger?
- Why must I push myself to persevere?
Habits Can Turn Your Dreams Into a Reality
September 4, 2009
Ever since we were children, we’ve had dreams. The sad thing is, over the years we convinced ourselves that our dreams could never come true. Because we assumed that they were mere fantasies, we didn’t even try to make them come true.
Believe it or not, your dreams can be reality! However, you won’t get anywhere by simply making a wish. You have to take specific actions to increase your chances of living that life you always dreamed of.
These are some simple techniques that can help you get started:
1. You must possess passion and desire. These two elements are crucial for living your dream. Interestingly enough, you really can’t have one without the other. You must yearn to have something in your life so much (desire) and for the right reasons (passion).
• A good example to illustrate the difference would be if you always wanted to be a professional singer. You know that you have the talent and all you want in life is to sing on a professional stage some day (desire). Your focus isn’t the money, fame, or prestige; you just have a true love for singing. It’s all you think about all-day, every day (passion).
2. Patience. Patience isn’t easy, but in most case, our dreams don’t come true overnight. You need to work hard to achieve your full potential. Though it may take longer than you hoped, once you’re living your dream, you’ll realize that practicing patience was worth the rewards.
• Just remember to remain positive, focus on your dreams, and keep taking action to make those dreams a reality. After all, patience is a virtue!
3. Sacrifice. Achieving your dreams will require self-sacrifice. This is usually where most people can gauge how serious they are about turning their dreams into reality. Whether it is giving up your TV time to work toward your goals, or spending extra hours at work to further your career, you have to be willing to sacrifice something.
• If you’re truly passionate about your dreams, this shouldn’t be too difficult. If you do find sacrifice extremely difficult, it may be that you don’t possess enough desire, passion, willpower, or self-discipline to see your dreams through.
4. Confidence. If you truly want to make your dreams real, you have to believe they can happen. You must possess an intense confidence in yourself and your talents; otherwise, your dreams will remain dreams forever.
• Sometimes your confidence may waiver, but as long as you can focus on your ultimate goal – and you can actually see yourself achieving this goal – you’re heading in the right direction.
Final Thoughts on Achieving Your Dreams
No one can steal your dreams away from you except you. Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy, biggest obstacle, and harshest critic. But that’s not what you need! You need to remember that, by taking action and implementing these simple tips and suggestions, your dreams can come true.
Keep your focus on the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow; it will happen if you only believe it can!
Dare To Overcome Challenges
August 17, 2009
Everybody has challenges, like it or not it’ a normal part of life. A lot of people look at disputes and detest them, but disputes help move us forward. You and the entire world would stand still without challenges. You would never improve Yourself, and would always be the same people you are right now. Besides think of how boring the world would be without disputes. How could anyone ever learn.
This knowledge may make disputes somewhat easier to deal with and may even enable you to defeat challenges or obstacles that are standing in your way. So ask yourself: Am I where I want to be in life? If you’re not happy, then it’s time to take charge.
Defeating Challenges
Defeating some challenges can be as simple as remembering that nothing lasts forever. Even though this may sound rather simple, it is true. When you are in the midst of a tough situation, you should pause for a moment and remember that this too shall pass. We often get caught up in the drama and the stress of a challenge or obstacle. This blinds us to the reality that this moment is simply a stepping stone to where we are going.
Another way to defeat challenges is to seek help. We often become islands unto ourselves when we needn’t be. Ask friends and family for help, or get professional help if the challenge demands it. Getting help from people that support you can make the challenge seem smaller and less threatening.
Breaking challenges down into more manageable component may make them easier to defeat. Many of us look only at the big picture, which can be overwhelming. Examine the challenges you’re facing and see if you can’t break up the issues into smaller pieces to make the process less intimidating.
Positive thought is a great way to overcome challenges. Many people keep a list of affirmations with them – either physically or in their minds – to help them overcome difficulties as challenges arise. Affirmations are simple statements to help you quiet negative thoughts that are in your mind. Many people find that positive thoughts are the key to overcoming both big and small challenges.
You can take positive thoughts one step further and incorporate affirmations into your everyday life. These affirmations may include, “If I can say it, I can do it, and I can be it.” Getting up each day and saying these thoughts out loud reaffirms the positive thought and allows you to live it. Many people repeat the thought each day at the same time, while others use them only in those moments when challenges present themselves and become overwhelming.
Overcoming challenges is difficult, but this is a vital part of learning more about yourself, who you are striving to be, and what your place is in this world. In many situations, you can employ just one of these methods to overcome the challenges in your life, and in other situations you may need to use a combination. Each person finds different methods of dealing with challenges to work for them, but the power of positive thought cannot be overlooked. This power will enable you to see the good in each challenge or obstacle that you encounter throughout your life.
Stress Free Living – Using Self Talk To Conquer Fear
May 17, 2009
Fear of failure, fear of change, even fear of success can hold you back from creating a life by design. Uncertainty and doubt can and will erode your self confidence and lower your self esteem. The one thing in life you can be sure of, is we all have fear. Being afraid is a normal part of living but letting fear hold the key to your happiness will undoubtedly affect your joy for living.
The first step to eliminating fear is identifying the cause. Self talk is ineffective unless you understand the root of the problem. When fear overrules your life it effects both your mind and body.
We talk to ourselves all day every day. Except most of the time we say negative things to ourselves.
“Nobody likes me”
“I can’t get anything right”
“I don’t know what’s wrong with me”
“I’m so dumb”
Does any of this sound familiar?
Self-talk is more then just positive thinking and positive talk. Thinking about something and never taking action is just thinking. Yes you’ll feel better but it will have a limited impact on your life unless you take that thinking and add a quotient of action.
So when you look at it that way, self-talk at least effective self-talk, is action talk. You can say to yourself all day everyday for a year “I’m successful” but if there’s no action behind the words it’s pretty meaningless.
Do not let fear control your life. Self-talk will help you to do anything you want when your use positive thinking. Some people are afraid to climb over a fence. To overcome this fear of going over the fence, tell yourself you can do it. Face it and force yourself to go over the fence to the other side. Overcoming a fear systematically and self-talk your way through each step will help you to accomplish this fear. Think positive you can and will do it to succeed.
The key is to talk small steps every day. When a negative thought comes into your mind reverse it with something positive. And most importantly take an action step to reinforce the positive self-talk.
You are in control of your own desitiny, by the actions you take each and every day. Be self-aware, and self-confident to improve your self-esteem.
How To Use Self-Talk To Overcome Fear
November 12, 2008
Life for most of us should be pretty good for the most part. But for so many that’s simply not true Negative statements from others and yourself about you erode your self worth. Are you being held back from success because of what others have said to or about you or worst yet, what you have said about yourself. When doubt creeps in, it brings us down by lowering our confidence and self-esteem. Being afraid of failure is the most common fear we have.
Are you letting fear control your life? Self-talk will help you to do anything you want when your use positive thinking, on the other hand, negative thinking can prevent you from doing anything you want. The choice is yours. Overcome fear systematically with self-talk. Once you realize what is causing your fear, you can move to self-talk techniques to change the situation..
First let me share what self-talk is not. It’s not some mumble jumble. We do it all the time but we just don’t know it. Unfortunately, most of our natural self-talk is negative. Most of us believe in positive thinking, and that’s good. But deciding to only think positively for the rest of your life won’t work. After all we’re all humans and bound to slip up every now and again. But positive thinking can work if your negative thoughts are immediately replaced with positive one. Wanting to be a positive thinker isn’t enough, having a positive attitude isn’t enough. You need the positive words to go along with it. What I’ve learned about self-talk is it’s not hypnosis or subliminal but a repletion of the positive ideas concepts and affirmations that you say, or listen to over a period of time.
Let me give you a couple of examples. Instead of getting out of bed in the morning and saying “I wish I didn’t have to get up,” with your new self-talk say “it’s a great day to be alive”. Or for those of us that have to make cold calls instead of saying “I’d really don’t feel like making calls today,” with your new self-talk try saying “I excited to make these calls because I know I will make a great new connection today”. Remember your rephrasing your old self-talk with new ones. One more example so I know you get the picture. Instead of saying “I’m so tired today I feel like going to bed”, with your new self-talk say “I have a lot of energy today”.
Now the changes won’t happen immediately or overnight. This will take some practice and skill to change your thinking and mindset. When your with another person you might want to use self-speak silently, when alone you can feel free say it out loud or even have a conversation with yourself. But remember when you find yourself getting off track by negative thoughts creeping in regroup and get right back on path.
Use positive thinking and self-talk to reprogram your mind to think positive. Don’t let your conscious and subconscious mind tell you that something can’t be done. If you use self-talk, you’ll soon learn that you can do anything you want and succeed by being positive. Use positive thinking and self-talk to stay in control. Tell yourself that when you master confidence and self-esteem you can master anything.
If this was helpful let me know. Add a comment in the comment area below this sentence. Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to know about self-talk.
Can You Really Think Yourself Happy?
October 8, 2008
Believe it or not, it is within your power to create positive thoughts allowing you to accomplish anything you set out to do. Can you really think yourself happy? The answer is a qualified yes. Here are the ways in which positive thoughts can help you accomplish many things in life.
Positive thoughts produce positive results. We can either bemoan our situation, or change it. We can be negative about an event or enthusiastic. President Lincoln once said, “Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” If you really want to think yourself happy, then make up your mind to do so. It may be difficult to think happy in a world filled with hatred and violence. But it’s not impossible. One person, one idea, one positive thought can change society. How, then, can we make ourselves happy? By being a constant reminder to others that there is goodness in the world.
- Seek out positive people to associate with.
- Expose yourself to all the wonderful books, music and movies available.
- Find the one important thing in your life that’s important, and pursue it.
- Show kindness and respect towards others.
- Live life as if every day is your last.
- Use positive reinforcement wherever and whenever you can.
- Use visualization methods to view the positive aspects of life.
- Speak in a positive tone.
- Rid your mind of negative thinking with yoga and exercise.
- Let your expectations reflect your positive attitude.
- Allow peace of mind to envelop you.
- Become your own best friend.
There is a wonderful poem which clearly explains how unhappiness can thwart our every desire.
If you think you are beaten you are;
If you think you dare not, you don’t;
If you want to win but think you can’t;
It’s almost a cinch you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose you’re lost;
For out of the world we find
Success begins with a fellow’s will;
It’s all in a state of mind.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger and faster man.
Happiness is not a genetic trait we are born with. It is ingrained in us by our parents and those we love. It is up to us, then, to maintain it, share it, and build our lives around it. Think happy, and you will be happy.
