Feeling close to family as well as friends is actually one of the greatest joys in life. If you want to feel more linked and strengthen the relationships, attempt these practical steps for banishing loneliness.

Advantages of Becoming More Connected

Deepen your happiness. Over the years, numerous studies have confirmed that our partnerships influence our happiness more than anything we can buy. Every person wants to feel loved and appreciated.

Improve your health. Social connections also protect physical health and wellness. Statistically, the opportunities of expiring in the next year are cut in half just by joining a group, according to Dr. Robert D. Putnam who wrote the handbook on “Bowling Alone.”

Accomplish more. You’re notably more effective when you join forces with others. Families rely on teamwork and the support systems produce you more resilient during tough times.

Change Your Thinking

Learn to be brave. It’s actually natural to worry about being rejected, yet you’ll enjoy life more if you take risks. Take a different co-worker out to lunch or call up a relative you haven’t spoken to in a while.

Focus on others. Mingling is notably easier when you concentrate on how you can assist others. If you have a tendency to be self-conscious or speak to yourself unkindly, distract yourself by giving others your complete attention.

Talk with the physician. If you suffer from depression or community phobias, you might require some added guidance. The physician can advise you on impressive treatments available today.

Take Action

Start with little steps. Guarantee the victory by beginning where you feel comfortable. Little ones as well as dogs normally love every extra attention they can acquire. There’s lots of places that welcome volunteers.

Limit your screen time. Turn off the TV and web so you can invest more time talking with people face to face. Get into a habit of taking a walk after dinner.

Think in terms of closeness. One or two close friendships can certainly be actually worth more than hundreds of Facebook buddies you barely know. Measure the support network by its closeness.

Ask for what you need. If you feel distant from your loved one, try letting them know what you need to feel closer. Your partner might possibly be willing to mention, “I love you” more often when they know that it’s important to you.

Join a club. Engagement with your community can certainly bring more meaning to the life. Sharing an interest with others also makes it easier to get to know others. Sign up for a pottery class or join the summer college course.

Cultivate your spiritual side. Church services are actually a significant part of many individual’s lives. For others, spiritual connections might possibly arise via getting back to nature or listening to chamber song.

Become more approachable. While you are actually working up the courage with chat to different people, you can seek for ways to make it easier for them to get to know you.

Discover the right balance for you. Solitude is different from loneliness. You might value having some regular quiet time to spark the imagination or practice meditation.

By making the effort to get to out to others, you can diminish the own loneliness and provide a source of friendship to every person around you. It’s easy to feel isolated in a world where we invest so much time online and where families typically live far apart. Nonetheless, to make a friend you need to first get to out and develop into one.

The New Year is the perfect time to start fresh. If there’s any aspect of your life that you’d like to improve, set some clear and attainable goals for yourself that will help you get there.

Take It Slow

Work towards your goal one piece at a time. It’s important to take it slow and not take on too much at once. The main reason that some people fail when it comes to their New Year’s goals is because they fail to plan out a realistic path.

Follow Through With a Plan

It’s easy to say: “I want to lose 50 pounds” or “I want to learn a musical instrument.” Keep in mind that big goals like these will take some time and effort. Diets are hard to start because you may feel unmotivated or hungry. Musical instruments require time to master, and you may start with weeks of just learning notes before getting to any fun melodies.

Remember that the beginning is tough. Muster up the courage and enthusiasm to continue with your efforts. Remember that most people give up, but you’re not most people, are you?

You’re different because, unlike most people, you’re going to create a clear and realistic plan to take you right to success. If you’re going to lose 50 pounds, define how you’re going to lose those pounds. Are you starting an exercise routine? Are you going to join Weight Watchers or count calories?

You know that you won’t lose the weight quickly; it’s a steady loss that brings success. Even if you’re short a couple of pounds on one of your short-term goals, you can revise your plan and kick up the pace, or just continue on your path because you’ll reach your 50 pound goal before the year is out. That’s what you’ll be able to accomplish with a solid plan in place.

Be Real

You have to stay realistic when it comes to your New Year’s goals. The holidays are a joyful time, and often times you’ll feel motivated to achieve something big. Know that you can achieve big things, but there are also only 24 hours in a day.

Avoid making goals that would take more than a year to complete. If you want to make a long-term goal like this, break it up into parts and give yourself a realistic plan for your first year goal.

Visualize the Outcome

When you run into snags in the road, as you’re bound to in life from time to time, it will help to visualize yourself reaching your end goal. Visualizing it makes it feel real and motivates you to continue to work hard to make it happen.

The Right Attitude

If you’re practicing the right attitude, you can go far. It’s true that all you need to do is believe in yourself. You’ve probably realized that if you don’t believe that you can accomplish something, you simply won’t. How can you expect to achieve great things if you don’t believe in yourself?

An optimistic attitude is critical to your success. Think about how you felt when you first set your New Year’s goal. Chances are that you had an excellent attitude, so try to maintain that mindset throughout your journey to success with your goal.

Once you’ve determined a realistic goal and divided it up into short, achievable tasks, you’re bound for success as long as you take action to complete each step. Go ahead and make that New Year’s resolution, knowing that this year is going to be your most successful yet!

People dream big all the time. But it’s the people that take action to reach their goals that truly succeed in life. It’s a huge task to take on, but when you break down your journey into simple steps, anything is achievable. Decide on your goal and follow through, it really can be as simple as that.

The Big Picture

It truly doesn’t matter what your goal is, you can achieve it by combining the will to succeed with action. There are many possible excuses and many people that will try to bring you down, it’s just the way life. While these things may not change, your attitude can.

The first thing you need to do is create a personal definition of success. What are you trying to do? What is your ultimate goal?

Remember, the answer can be anything your heart desires. Maybe you want to start a video game development business, or maybe you want to be an Olympic swimmer. Everyone is different, but it’s important to have a well-defined goal. Don’t be afraid to be specific and to list a goal even if you’re lacking the confidence to achieve it.

The Process

After you have your definition of success, it’s time to break it down and make it happen. Success will happen just by completing one small task at a time from your plan.

Let’s say your ultimate goal is to own a video game development business. You currently work at a dead end job and you have little revenue to use towards your goal, so you assume it’ll never happen and you just go about your day. But what if you took just 20 minutes each day and worked toward your goal?

Here are some of the things you might accomplish:

You can research how much money it would take to start up your business.

You can learn the ins and outs of the industry by reviewing different courses and training programs.

You can make appointment to meet with banks or companies as potential investors.

You can contact independent game developers that may be willing to take on extra work at a reasonable cost.

You can research and formulate marketing tactics.

You can create a 5-year plan.

While the business entails a great deal more than these 6 steps, you get the idea of what it means to break down a huge task into smaller parts. If you don’t break it down, it’ll seem too overwhelming and you won’t even know where to start – so you won’t get started at all!

But when you decide to spend a little time on a small project, like researching marketing tactics and saving some web links, that’s definitely something you can accomplish in an afternoon. And it brings you one step closer to your goal.

Something Is Always Better Than Nothing

You now know that some action is always better than no action towards your goal. It may sound trite, but you’ll never get there if you don’t try. Just think of how far along you might be if you spend 20 minutes a day on your goal for a whole year. That’s a great deal of small, manageable projects!

You owe it to yourself to make your dreams come true, so go get started!

Do you feel like you’re stuck in a rut? Are you struggling in your love life, career, friendships, or passion?

It’s time to take action to fix the problem. You’ll first want to identify the areas of your life that feel “off.”

Take some time to reflect on what’s bothering you and why. Once you know what’s going on, it’s easier to find a solution.

Having a Goal

It’s important to have goals in all aspects of your life because it focuses your energy onto the big picture. When you have a purpose for your actions, you’ll begin to see those little steps being important building blocks for your end goal. Your life won’t seem so stale when you have your end goal in mind at all times.

Here are some tips for setting goals:

Make your goals attainable. If you have lofty goals, break them up into smaller pieces.

Write your goals down on paper and keep them handy.

Always state your goals in a positive fashion (i.e. “I will be free of smoke…” instead of: “I will stop smoking…”)

Be as detailed as you can when planning out your goals step by step.

Fight the urge to procrastinate.

Take Action

Once you’ve discovered the areas of your life that need changing, and you have goals in mind, it’s time to take action. When things have hit a point of stagnation there is no other choice you have but to take swift action.

Remember that you can think, plan, or worry all day long but it’ll do nothing positive for your life if you don’t act.

Here are some strategies to keep in mind as you put your goals into action:

Don’t Hold Yourself Back. If you already know what’s holding you back, it’s time to fix the problem so you can take action. Is fear holding you back? If so, it’d be in your best interest to master your fears. A life full of stagnation because of fear will do more harm than good.

Be Consistent. Many people will crack down on changing their life and then drift back into a world of stagnation. Once you’ve started to take action, make sure it’s consistent action. This is the only way you’ll reach your life goals.

Right Now. You already have your plan in place and it’s broken up into small pieces. Ask yourself what you can accomplish right now to put yourself a positive step closer toward your goal. It doesn’t matter if you only have 15 minutes, there is sure to be something you can accomplish in that time period.

Take Time to Unwind. It’s easy to get excited and eager about your new goals and dreams, but ensure you schedule some “me time” as well. You need to be able to get a good night’s sleep and rejuvenate your body and mind. Otherwise, you risk physical and mental exhaustion, which will only bring you back to stagnation!

Take Notes. Be sure to take notes of your observations and tweak your actions along the way. Doing so will help you figure out what’s working for you and what’s not.

Picture Yourself

At the end of the day you should picture yourself having broken the chain of stagnation. Even if you’re not quite there yet, it’s important to remember that it’s possible and likely when you’re willing to change!

On my journey to victory, I can overcome any challenge that is set before me like a mountain standing in my way. Armed with courage I push myself to climb as far as it takes to get to the other side. I press on because victory awaits me at the top, but only if I persevere.

Determination is what makes me an invincible force throughout the journey. Regardless of what I see around me, above me, or even below me, I am determined to finish what I have started because it is my promise to myself.

I put on the gloves of persistence in order to firmly grip the side of the mountain so I can stay the course. One step at a time, I press on in my walk no matter what tries to get in my way. Even when inclement weather slows my pace, I continue to press on. Life is not about how fast I travel, but about enjoying the journey to my destiny.

I am strong and courageous enough to confront challenges head on. My passion drives me forward in spite of challenges. I am confident that my abilities are greater than whatever trials I my face. I know that I can overcome challenges with grace and poise when I walk with self-assurance.

Today, I choose not to simply face challenges, but to embrace them as opportunities to soar. I am climbing higher than ever before, certain that I will reach the top where I will give a shout of victory.

Self-Reflection Questions:

What is the force that drives me?

How can challenges make me stronger?

Why must I push myself to persevere?

Communication is the key when it comes to anything that involves collaboration. We humans are a social species, communication is involved in nearly everything we all do.

Some people are born with the natural ability to communicate well, while others may struggle with it. No matter what category you fall into, it’s likely that you can benefit from paying attention to improving your communication skills.

Why Better Communication Helps You

Did you know that most businesses consider your communication skills to be the most important characteristic about you? This means that you could have top-notch knowledge and job skills but still fail to land a job if you’re lacking in the communication department.

Communication is certainly not only important when it comes to your work life, but it’s also vital in having a successful home life as well. Couples and family members that are good communicators lead happier lives overall.

Proper communication will prevent misunderstandings and save you time so you won’t have to go back and explain yourself again and again. You know you’ve gained good communication skills when you can communicate your thoughts effectively with as few words as necessary!

How To Improve Communication With Others

Communication is a two way street. This means that you could have excellent skills, but if the recipient is lacking, then you may not be understood. This is why it’s important not only to develop our speaking skills, but our listening skills, too.

Since you can’t affect the skill level of others, the only thing you can do is strengthen your own communication skills. Besides, when you’re an excellent communicator, more people will understand you, everything around you will run more efficiently, and you’ll more often get what you want!

Try these strategies to improve your communication skills:

1. Avoid arguing. If you run into a snag in a conversation and it starts to morph into an argument, step back and realize what’s going on. It’s easy to get swept up into the blame game, but ultimately it’s not important who’s at fault. What’s important is the mutual understanding of the issue at hand and a desire for a solution that benefits everyone.

2. Don’t be afraid to compromise. You may be tempted to try and “win” but that’s not the best way to reach a mutual agreement. You may be happier with getting your way, but it may come at the expense of the other person, which can cause further issues. Find a good compromise that you both can willingly accept.

3. Work on listening. Your listening skills are even more important than your speaking skills. After all, how will you know what you should say – and when – if you haven’t effectively listened? Listen more than you speak and you’ll gain a profound wisdom of others, too!

4. Keep your focus. Communication will get overly complicated if you worry about too many issues at once. Avoid bringing up the past or other issues and, instead, focus on the one topic at hand.

5. Stay calm and take responsibility. Adopt a calm and cool manner of handling situations. When things remain low key, it’s easier to communicate and get your point across. This also means that you need to take responsibility for what you say. Don’t be afraid to admit mistakes when you’re wrong.

Becoming a better communicator doesn’t happen overnight. But if you keep practicing and tweaking your skills, you’ll be surprised at what you can accomplish.

In the average home, the windows are hard to open because they’re rarely opened. With air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter, windows almost seem like a useless accessory now.

That’s sad, because there are excellent therapists just outside your window waiting to help alleviate the stress that’s overcome you. For less than ten dollars, you can get a bird feeder to place outside your home or office window.

Spend a few bucks a week on birdseed and you’ll be rewarded with a variety of birds stopping by for breakfast each morning. If you add more seed in the afternoon, you’ll draw the early dinner crowd.

After awhile, you’ll be able to identify the birds by their unique songs. Even though these little birds work hard every day just to find food, water and safe shelter, they never fail to sing as if they didn’t have a care in the world. As you listen to their songs, you begin to feel remarkably less stressed.

If you plant the right kind of flowers outside your window or bring in container plants, you’ll become a favorite attraction for butterflies. They don’t make any noise so you have be alert to see them. Pay attention to their delicately colorful wings fluttering around outside your window. If you remember biology class, those butterflies live only a few days but they make the most of every moment. As you watch them, think what you would do if you only had a few days left in your life? What prevents you from doing those things now?

Nature’s play therapists are the squirrels. They hop from branch to branch in the tree with reckless abandon. If they fall, they shake and get back up again. It seems that squirrels just want to have fun, but they have a serious side too. Squirrels put away food first, but still find time to play. There’s a lesson for you. Get the work done but schedule time for your enjoyment also. Have you ever seen a depressed squirrel? Maybe it because they have actually mastered the work-life balance that we all talk about.

So pull back those curtains, get some window cleaner and rearrange your chair to take advantage of nature’s therapists outside your window.

Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful. – Albert Schweitzer

According to Dictionary.com success is the achievement of something desired, planned or attempted. Maybe you have friends or family members who have achieved immense success in their lives and you find yourself wishing you could have that the same? Does thinking about them fill you with envy toward the people who you perceive to “everything” they want?

Most of us experience these feelings from time to time, but instead of letting envy and resentment make you feel miserable and negative, remember, you’re in control, create your own success. After all, you are the only person who has power over how you define “success.” So instead of spending your time feeling jealous, you can spend time creating and acknowledging your own success.

Creating Success for Yourself

Many people spend their lives wondering when success is going to magically appear at their door but, of course, it never happens this way. If, instead, you spend less time dreaming and more time building, you’d be much happier and success will be well within our grasp.

Rather than waiting passively for success to whisk you away, it’s time to create your own version of success. When you are proactively taking steps every day, you have a better chance of realizing your goals. After all, it’s far more productive than watching other people achieve success.

A great way to create the successful life you have always hoped for is to set clear, actionable goals. How do you want your life to be defined? What do you want to be doing a year from now, five years from now, or even ten years from now? What sort of goals can you set for yourself that will help motivate you and keep you going in the right direction so you can reach out and grab what you want?

You will want to make sure the goals you set are attainable. The best way to do this is to start with short-term goals that help you work towards your long-term goals. This will help you move forward and build momentum without becoming discouraged. Besides, it’ll help to keep your eye on the prize. If you set goals that are too ambitious, you will be more inclined to give up before you even get started.

Building a “Success!” Attitude

Your attitude and thoughts determine your success, so make sure they are congruent. If you have some negative or self-defeating inner dialogues, it will be much more difficult for you to achieve your goals and build the life of success you have always wanted. That’s why it’s a good idea to use the power of positive affirmations to propel you forward.

Affirmations can help people from all walks of life reach great success, even if they started out in the lowest of low places. So remember that success isn’t limited to the rich and famous!

Having a list of affirmations on hand can help you overcome those moments of self-doubt, envy, or even anger that you may feel toward others. Affirmations are simple thoughts like, “Each simple, completed task propels me towards success,” or, “I am worthy of great success.” These affirmations help to remind you of what your goals are and, in turn, remind you that you are worthy of all you desire, and more!

Think about this for a minute. Did you know that you are capable of a lot more than you are doing now? Tapping into the entire power of your brain is something you can easily learn with practice. By doing this, you can harness the power of your mind to complete tasks and go about your life with ease. When you tap into your total mental capacity you will learn how to focus on what really counts so you can get more done promptly and efficiently.

Tapping Into the Full Power of Your Brain

Do you ever complete a project and then do it over again when you realized you made many silly little mistakes? Most of the time we laugh at ourselves and wonder what we were thinking, but it sure would be nice to get things done in one try without having to re-do tasks over and over again.

This is all the more reason we need to constantly improve our mind so we can accomplish things faster with the least amount of effort.

Turn off the Distracting Mental Chatter

The first thing you need to do when you want to tap into your full brainpower is turn off the noise. The reference to noise isn’t necessarily the music playing in the room or the television you have on in the background – it’s the noise in your mind! All of the negative thoughts and concerns that distract you and take you away from your concentration are all mental noises. Turn off the noise when you need to harness all your energy to complete a difficult task. Any time a thought misdirects you, immediately write it down, and get back on task.

Make a Prioritized List

The next strategy is to prioritize the items you really need to do right away. Being able to create a plan of attack will help you use all of your mental abilities when you need them the most. You will be able to focus on the task at hand when you know that everything has its place on paper. This will enable you to devote your brainpower to what you are doing so you can enjoy your work without worrying about what’s up ahead. You’ll also be more efficient and effective when it comes to completing the tasks in front of you since everything will have its own time and place.

Using the Power of Positive Thinking

Positive thinking techniques are another great way to tap into your brainpower. For example, if you use affirmations, you will be able to turn off the negative inner dialogue that you have running through your head and replace it with positive thoughts to keep you moving forward.

Many of us don’t realize how ineffective negative thoughts make us. These thoughts can distract us and keep us from doing the things we want or need to do. An affirmation such as, “My lasting success is my focus” can help you tap into your confidence so you can get things done. Over time, using positive thinking techniques will turn off any negative thoughts so you can tap into the power of your mind to accomplish more and reach greater levels of success.
